По умолчанию Def Jam Mobile on its way

CLEVELAND, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Interactive, the new media subsidiary of American Greetings Corporation, and the renowned hip hop mogul and visionary Russell Simmons, have joined together to provide a new arsenal of cutting edge wireless offerings and avenues of personal expression through content-based products, services and applications to millions living the hip hop lifestyle.

AG Interactive and Def Jam's branded Def Jam Mobile is designed to offer a new voice for the hip hop generation by developing a substantial suite of new wireless applications and products to the mobile marketplace. Under the agreement, the partners will jointly develop, distribute and market mobile content offerings in the music, film and videogame area as well as other forms of self-expression including personalization, messaging products and entertainment. The content will be produced and marketed to create meaningful connections with the hip hop audience, providing an innovative way to express personal choices and lifestyle.

The partnership brings AG Interactive together with one of hip hop's most historic entrepreneurs. Simmons founded seminal rap label Def Jam, launching the careers of legendary artists including LL Cool J, Beastie Boys and Public Enemy. He revolutionized urban fashion by creating the Phat Farm clothing line, launched popular television projects including Def Jam Comedy, and Def Jam Poetry and created the influential Hip Hop Summit. All these achievements have made Simmons the most sought-after thought leader in the urban market. Just as importantly for AG Interactive, Simmons has already enjoyed success producing branded mobile phones through deals with Motorola.
Simmons will now bring his magic touch to AG Interactive, which is already creating buzz in the urban wireless arena with its upcoming Univision Movil content which is targeted to the Hispanic market. Def Jam Mobile will cement AG Interactive's growing reputation as a wireless content innovator.

"This major partnership with Russell Simmons enables AG Interactive to establish a leadership position in a market that wireless content providers are eager to penetrate," notes Josef Mandelbaum, President and Chief Executive Officer, AG Interactive. "When looking to partner with an organization that best represents this lifestyle, there is no more authentic and influential brand than Def Jam."

"It's only natural to extend hip hop into new avenues of self-expression," states Kevin Liles, President and Chief Executive Officer, Def Jam. "Def Jam Mobile will allow us to be able to provide new ways for our audience to access and use wireless content to further their own individuality."

"The buying power of the hip hop generation has evolved into a multibillion dollar economic force," notes Russell Simmons, Chief Executive Officer, Rush Communications. "We're confident Def Jam Mobile will bring the most desirable, targeted mobile content to the core, hip hop demographic."

Hip hop has come to dominate both urban communities and traditional suburbia with CD sales topping $1 billion in 2003, largely due to the 45 million hip hop consumers between the ages of 13 and 34. This group is 80 percent white, according to Simmons Lathan Media Group, and has an annual spending power of $1 trillion. The new partnership seeks to provide an unparalleled opportunity for those living this hugely popular and influential culture to extend their self-expression into the mobile marketplace. To gain wide distribution for Def Jam Mobile, AG Interactive will draw on partnerships with more than 25 carriers.

AWARD-WINNING ADVENTURE GAME SERIES INCLUDING "SHADOWGATE" TO PREMIER ON BREW(R)-ENABLED MOBILE PHONES

Adventure Games to Offer Unique Challenge to Mobile Phone Owners

Purcellville, VA - June 7, 2004 - Infinite Ventures, Inc., handheld game developer and publisher, today announced plans to produce its award-winning series of graphic adventure games including "Shadowgate(R) Classic," for QUALCOMM's BREW solution. The series also includes the detective mysteries "Déjà Vu(R): A Nightmare Comes True" and "Déjà Vu II: Lost in Las Vegas," and the gothic horror tale "Uninvited(R)."

"Shadowgate Classic" will launch the series in the fall of this year, immersing players into a compelling world of devious puzzles, fantastic beasts and heroic challenges. "We're excited to bring our adventure games to QUALCOMM's BREW solution," said Eugene Evans, president, Infinite Ventures. "We believe that players will embrace the adventure gaming genre, as it is perfect for mobile phone play. Whenever users have downtime they can use their phone to return to solving the latest puzzle. They are recognized for their innovative design and as the games that defined the now de facto "point and click" style of adventure game play.

По умолчанию MPix Kyo Cameraphone with Swerve 3D and ARM9

yesssss! BREW conf gains momentum -- corporate release

Kyocera Wireless and Superscape Collaborate to Enable the Delivery of 3D Games Over the Air Using BREW® Solution from QUALCOMM™

Partnership aims to optimize Superscape's Swerve Engine on Kyocera's Koi™ 1.2 megapixel camera phone, utilizing QUALCOMM's MSM6100 chip set powered by an embedded ARM® 9 processor

SAN DIEGO - (June 8, 2004) – Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless handsets and telemetry modules, and Superscape Group plc (LSE: SPS), leaders in revolutionary entertainment for mobile phones, today announced a partnership to optimize Superscape's Swerve Client software engine for Kyocera's Koi™ 1.2 megapixel camera phone. Koi's oversized 262,000-color screen, ample onboard memory, intuitive keypad and QUALCOMM’s MSM6100 chip set powered by the ARM® 9 processor make it a platform that is ideal for downloading and playing 3D games and multimedia content delivered over the air using QUALCOMM’s BREW® solution. The collaborative partnership will make Koi one of the first 3D-capable mobile phones in North America when it becomes available this summer.

“As Kyocera continues to appeal to a broad customer base, we recognize that both the casual and prolific gamer are looking for a better mobile gaming experience on their phones,” said Don McGuire, vice president of global marketing, Kyocera Wireless Corp. “Koi offers an ideal gaming platform for next-generation 3D games, combining robust hardware with a large, colorful screen and an easy to use keypad. Superscape's Swerve engine will further help us take this new gaming experience to our customers by leveraging Kois strengths and capitalizing on Kyocera's history with the BREW solution.”

Superscape's Swerve Client, developed in collaboration with ARM, is a fast and efficient software solution that, when running on the wireless device and driven by application code, generates and manages the interactive 3D scenes on the screen using model description data. Swerve Client abstracts the more complex requirements for building interactive 3D applications, making it both easy and fast for designers and programmers to create content without the need for detailed knowledge of such techniques as 3D rendering. Optimized for ARM processor design, Swerve Client runs as part of the actual operating system of the handset and runs games that can either come pre-installed on a mobile device or can be downloaded over the air using the BREW system or Java™.

"The BREW solution has significantly expanded the options available to mobile phone users regarding the types of content they can to download to their phones," said Kevin Roberts, chief executive officer at Superscape. "Kyocera launched the first BREW-enabled phone in North America and is aggressively marketing to the types of users who want the 3D gaming capabilities that the Swerve engine can enable. We're proud to work with Kyocera in optimizing our product and look forward to enriching the mobile phone experience for their customers around the world."

Koi, Kyocera Wireless’ first megapixel camera phone, features a 1.2 megapixel digital camera with four times the resolution of existing VGA camera phones and a unique “swivel” form factor. The phone offers easy one-button operation of the camera and can be used swiveled open or closed. Koi has a built-in flash and 5X digital zoom to expand picture-taking options, MPEG-4 video record and playback, and 16 megabytes of onboard memory for images, photo caller ID entries, multimedia files and downloaded games. Koi also features an exceptionally large 262,000-color external display for easy viewing of the Internet, images, videos and games.

JAMDAT Solitaire challenges players to an old-time classic game, now playable on the go. With easy controls for all ages and levels, players can try their hand at one of three other game options, Runaround, Two-Close or Take 20.

JAMDAT Casino puts three casino favorites on your mobile phone with Blackjack, Slots and Video Poker.
Bejeweled, developed by PopCap and published for wireless by JAMDAT, requires players to think strategically to beat this fast paced, addictive puzzle-solving game. To score points, players remove three jewels of the same type by placing them in a row.
